Using an Amsler grid
Keep an eye on your vision with our handy Amsler grid.
An Amsler grid is a simple tool used by opticians to check for any signs of damage to the eye that might be caused by macular degeneration (AMD) or other eye diseases.
By using an Amsler grid, you can easily check your vision in the comfort of your own home or even when you’re on the go.
How does it work?
Clear vision
This is an Amsler grid.
For someone with clear vision, the Amsler grid looks like graph paper. Dark lines form a square and a black dot sits in the centre.
Unclear vision
For someone with wet AMD, the grid may look wavy, broken, or have distorted lines. You might also see dark and blurry areas, particularly in the centre of your vision.
